Damage the brain and experience changes. Alter chemistry and consciousness shifts. Interrupt the system and the person you were speaking to a minute ago is no longer present in the same way. That pattern is too consistent to dismiss.
This is why the brain-first position keeps its force. It is not one elegant argument. It is convergence. Injury, anesthesia, degeneration, pharmacology, development. The evidence keeps pointing in the same direction.
Still, dependence is not identical to origin. If you reject the brain-first view, tell me what it fails to explain. If you accept it, tell me what remains unresolved after you do.
